27/30 made it to lockdown, the three were likely never fertilized.

Day 16, 2 days until lockdown, 5 days until hatch

It's been raining like crazy since yesterday afternoon. I'm starting to doubt my decision to hatch chicks this late in the year.
You'll get over your doubts as soon as you hear the first peep, see their widdle faces looking at you, and hold their tiny fluffy bums in your hands.

Unless they're teenagers, your boys will come up with the best names once they see the babies. 👶:jumpy👦🐤👦🐣👨🐥 They'll also likely claim them .... hopefully not all the same one.
My two teenage boys want nothing to do with this process haha my 6 and 9 year old are who I’m counting on 🤣 they will definitely be making their claim. I’m hoping they pick two pullets 🤞🏻

So exciting! I wonder if it's an internal pip? From what I understand you shouldn't be able to hear chicks peep until they break the membrane unless the egg is pressed against your ear.
You won't be able to hear them peep at all, no matter how close you hold the egg to your ear, until they pip internally. They physically can't peep before that because they aren't breathing air up until then.

That makes so much sense! That's why I love doing the group hatch alongs.
