I can’t like… emotionally process how cute these chicks are. I LOVE the pumpkin chick! So very cute!

The one egg that piped never starting turning to unzip, which led me to wonder why/how? The rest I don't see movement or hear any tapping.

I think I'm starting to put some pieces together with my incubation issues.

I dated the eggs that I collected for this incubation and I just looked at the dates; these eggs are older than the ones that actually hatched . . .still collected within two weeks of incubation, but I wasn't tilting them when I stored them. That coupled with either Kettle or Pot possibly being infertile, I think, is what had led to my crappy hatch rates.

I'm not sure if I should attempt to help the pipped egg, the last two I attempted to help didn't make it past a week old.

I removed small bits of the shell from two sides of the pip holes, applied a small amount of olive oil to the membrane... waited 30 mins, repeated and the chick hatched... I'm hoping since it still did most of the work it'll be strong and healthy

I can tell between the chicks now, because cupcake (the banded Brahma chick) has a big spot on her head. They all have some tiny differences, so that's good. I'll remove the band.

I find It so fun to band them and track their parents, and what traits they got from their parents.does anyone else?
