Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I don't like what Christmas has become. I think I preferred it when it was primarily a religious event.
Most of my family concentrate on having a pleasant day with each other, not overdoing things, especially on the shopping front. It sort of works but the commercial pressure is considerable.
None of us are religious people; mostly atheists and agnostics.
The Carol service at Bristol Cathedral used to be a good event. I haven't been since I returned to the UK.
I have cakes and pies to make as well as some snack stuff for Christmas day. Guess I better put new batteries in the smoke alarm. :D
It takes a bit of pressure off the eldest who most years hosts us all.
Christmas is about the only time I drink alcohol. I start Christmas Eve and drink every day until the New Year. I've got some nice bottles of whisky to work my way through. I've even got a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon to try this year.

Christmas here should pretty much be renamed to Celebration of Commercialsim. The earlier the stores put out their decorations the earlier I see them. Every "Christmas" thing I see stores do here is all about money money money.

Enjoy the Bulleit! That’s nice stuff, although we’re pretty much just wine these days.
