Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I don't like what Christmas has become. I think I preferred it when it was primarily a religious event.
Most of my family concentrate on having a pleasant day with each other, not overdoing things, especially on the shopping front. It sort of works but the commercial pressure is considerable.
None of us are religious people; mostly atheists and agnostics.
The Carol service at Bristol Cathedral used to be a good event. I haven't been since I returned to the UK.
I have cakes and pies to make as well as some snack stuff for Christmas day. Guess I better put new batteries in the smoke alarm. :D
It takes a bit of pressure off the eldest who most years hosts us all.
Christmas is about the only time I drink alcohol. I start Christmas Eve and drink every day until the New Year. I've got some nice bottles of whisky to work my way through. I've even got a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon to try this year.

Christmas here should pretty much be renamed to Celebration of Commercialsim. The earlier the stores put out their decorations the earlier I see them. Every "Christmas" thing I see stores do here is all about money money money.

Enjoy the Bulleit! That’s nice stuff, although we’re pretty much just wine these days.

Very windy again although it didn't rain while I was at the field. They all came out to eat and then headed back to the coop. Glais came out a couple of times.

Joanna's molt is almost done, and she's mostly white! What a change. She's barely 18 months, this was her first molt.

She's in the middle here ⬆️ and yes, she's not regained her comb, yet.

Here she is pre-molt
