Hello! And welcome to BackYard Chickens! We're all very glad you decided to join... I'd love to see some pics of your coop sometime~!and just to answer a few of your questions

How many roos are too many?: Well, i know people say 6 hens is fine for one rooster.. but i normally like to have 12 hens for each rooster, If you have to many rooster this could lead to way to many cock fights, And roosters over-mating with the hens, which means the roosters would tear up the poor hen's back/s.
Having a flock of mixed breeds if definitely ok We have over 14 different type of chicken breeds on our flock including some mutts and all of them seem to get along.
If you have anymore questions dont be afraid to ask no matter how dumb they may seem. You'l never know if you dont find out ;) Again i'd love to see some pictures of your coop and flock once you get em'!

Hi all of you!

I've been lurking in the shadows enjoying the immense wealth of knowledge that flows so freely from all of you. I most certainly hope to be an active member of this community.

I will be starting my first flock shortly, currently I'm still building the coop. The planned mixed flock will consist of Light Sussex, Barred Plymouth Rocks and Partridge Plymouth Rocks. Their sex is currently unknown as I ordered straight run chicks. Oh, and how could I forget, they will be free ranging.

I haven't decided yet if the flock will be mixed or separated to maintain the uniqueness of each breed.
