Same here. Technically, we still have a couple malls nearby but they're like ghost towns now compared to how I remember them as a kid. There are so few shops actually left open in them anymore.

Truth be known, if I'm willing to drive to Olympia or Vancouver, we have malls too. I just haven't been in one for so long now that online shopping is so easy.

Come to NJ if you want malls! I have 3 major ones nearby, and at least 2 more I can think of if you're willing to drive more than 20 minutes. They filled in the wetlands for that. . .

Well, we did move to the country to get away from all that. I have to drive well over an hour to the nearest mall. For that matter, I have to drive about 45 minutes to a regular grocery store. LOL But, it's all good. This is the retirement we chose and we love it.

Exactly. Describes our choices as well. You will love the country!!! You just have to learn to stock up differently on consumables, without getting cluttered.

Never did get the whole straw banning thing. All plastics are bad. And to be honest, I always preferred the hot drinks lids and complained for years that you cant get them with cold drinks People thought I was nuts. Guess what you get now in some places? Lol

I use straws, plastic bottles, and other such things. I dispose of them in appropriate recycling methods. I do not let them pollute the landscape.
Slobs will always be slobs, and there is no shortage of them. Regardless if you take away their straws. I regularly pick up trash that ends on our grounds. Some is lunch bags that get heaved out of car windows. The beer bottles and cans are also common. Drive by waste. There are also things found that I do not really want to mention here
I always use one of these to do the picking.

I have a few of them around,,,, one is handy and only designated for interior house use.

We have three here also I have problems bending so lower nest boxes also don't fall in to them taht way .. I have never lived in town.. Grew up on farm 160 acres so also like my space even the 3/4 acre we are on is good where we are

On my 5000 sq ft lot, even half an acre sounds great! Lol
