A manager with FEMA told me that that is true. One of the first assessments they make is to call the Waffle Houses and see if they are open.

I still remember the morning after a tornado came through my town, all stores were shut down because trees had been flung at everything (including my roof), doors had been ripped off of buildings, windows were busted, roads were littered with debris, but the waffle House was open and serving food. Best meal I ever ate.

I find myself going to WH a lot lately. I feel safe there.
