Maybe there are few Amish in Texas. Up here north,, especially northern Indiana, where I used to frequently find myself on back roads, you could differentiate an Amish house from others,,,, by seeing,,, NO ELECTRICAL WIRE CABLES FROM POLES, TO HOME. :frow
I met plenty of Mennonite folk when I lived in North East Tennessee. Some of them did drive, though the vehicles were very old. They did not use electricty at that time.
I've never lived near Amish at all. I can't imagine anyone who doesn't use electricity living in Texas. The lack of air-conditioning would be horible in this humidity. Of course no air-conditioning was common when we were kids but at least we had box fans. My family had central air from the time I was around 7 but we still had vehicles without air conditioning well into my teens.
