14+ of my chicks, pullets and cockerels were mauled by a pitbull feamale that was being babysat. She was only supposed to be there for a week. She was there for six months.

She killed the following and more. I might can't remember all. She had pups from his pit.

turken showgirl mix we think
two white silkie pullets
a black silkie pullet

Our brand new buff silkie roo. Just got him the day before. The hens ran off. I found one pacing along the the other chicken coop, so I openened the door and she ran in. Later that day we found the other hen in the woods standing there.
Where you could see everything the pit ate was laying out of the roo. ( organs )
Later we came to clean it up everyting was gone. The man offered to pay 45 and said that was not enough. Has anymore money showed up? NO.
Then got my cousins pair of buff silkies.

luckly a few of our showgirl died before this so they didn't suffer.
R.I.P babies.

How would you feal if that was your dog and his puppies that my dog killed? Think about it.
Your lucky it wasn't any of my older show birds. Showgirls and showquailty blue and splash hen or you would have dearly paid.

Here we go again. Irresponsible people's dogs mauling and killing chickens. If I had a nickel for every time this happens, I would already rule the world. And oh how things would be different then.

I assume this was a neighbor who was 'dog-sitting' (so to speak)? I have to get back to work right now - much as I will be utterly distracted by the frustration from these heart wrenching incidences - but PLEASE please read the many posts similar to yours for plenty of good advice re: how to handle the dog's guardians. Start right away with getting many pics of the dog's gruesome handiwork.

I am so sad for the horror and pain your birds endured.

I am so sorry. That sounds really awful.

While there are no birds that can replace the ones you lost in your heart, the dog sitter still should pay for replacement value for the ones the dog killed.
