Random menagerie Christmastime hatch-a-long

Meet Calling Bird, Lady Dancing (darkest skin), Lord Leaping and Swan Swimming. Calling Bird has the lightest skin and pink beak with no visible spots so I’m not sure if she is recessive white or paint yet. She also has very fluffy cheeks. Lady Dancing came from my NN paint silkie instead of the gold birchen.

Awww sooo cute
I would endlessly hatch chicks all spring if I had the room

Okay the rest of the eggs have hatched! I had to help a couple. 2 are still in the incubator, partially in shell. They seem a little weak, so I’m not sure if they will make it. But all of the rest seem to be doing well!

@wrathsfarm Star has hatched!! I helped a bit as the egg hadn’t pipped externally and the inner membrane was pretty dry. It’s little black or blue NN chick! So cute. I snagged a few photos.

Also attaching some pics of a paint chick that hatched that has the biggest black spot, right under the wing 😂

Cuteness galore !!

It’s so weird having my incubators off for the first time in 5 weeks! Here are the final stats for this very long hatch a long.

I set 100 eggs total.

Out of the 100 eggs, 57 of the eggs developed enough to make it to lockdown. So 43 of the eggs did not make it to lockdown. Many of my own eggs that I set were not fertilized, and 15 of the 39 shipped eggs didn’t develop/quit early on.

Of the 57 eggs that made it to lockdown, 9 of them didn’t hatch/died before hatching. A couple of the chicks that hatched today had a hard hatch and have been a little weak but I am hopeful that they will pull through.

So I had 48 chicks hatch out! Of those 48 chicks, 22 have sold, and 2 others are spoken for at the moment, and I will be selling a couple more when I make some final cuts. I am thrilled with how all the hatches went and so excited to see how my keepers grow out! Thank you for following along with this hatch along! 💕🐣

Who is Noggy going to? Will you keep him?
Sadly I let Noggy go yesterday to someone who bought 10 chicks all together. He will be super happy with all of his hatchling friends. I don’t really breed blues at all so I let all 5 of the blue silkies go, even though they were sooo beautiful!

You had a really great end of 24 / start of 25 hatching, you've made a ton of progress over the last year :highfive:

Are you going to keep posting photos as they grow?

They are all so adorable!
