Sussex, Barnevelders, Silkies... My Breeding Thread.

I did actually buy a Barnevelder chick. I'm hoping it grows to be decent quality so I can use it to improve mine. Unfortunately it's looking like a cockerel... I'm not supposed to have more roosters 😶

I also have this cute supposed EE šŸ˜‚ I've lost most of my BYM pets and I badly want coloured eggs 😃

I think you should just read my post on this because Birchen and Partridge are two mutations of the E locus in chickens. The E locus is the base color locus and understanding it makes everything else make more sense.
That said, partridge in Silkies are genetically gold partridge and birchen silkies are silver birchen. However, I'm not aware of the existence of birchen silkies. Perhaps you mean Extended Black with silver leakage, which looks like Birchen but isn't. Or maybe you mean silver partridge (often called grey in silkies.)

This is my confusion I think, I must've read somewhere someone saying "birchen" silkie and I actually have no idea what that even is?

I think I had a couple cockerels like that in my last hatches.

I know a little about silver partridge as that's what a lot of my current silkies are :)

Amer... another question :D But not about silkies!
Is it possible to breed a "blue tailed Buff" in Sussex using the coronations? I am aware the Silver is sex-linked dominant...
I'm thinking about getting more Sussex soon, it would be fun to get some colours I can experiment with my Buffs too.
