C.O.O.P., changing chicken laws in Johnson City, TN

Let me introduce C.O.O.P. which stands for chickens on our property. We are a group of people trying to get Johnson City, TN chicken laws changed to allow a few hens in residential backyards. So far we have a booth @ our Farmers market, collecting names, etc and a Facebook page we would be happy for you to visit. Don't forget to "like" us. We are also showing "Mad about Chickens" a movie about keeping chickens in urban settings.
We are happily taking all suggestions on how we can make the biggest impact in making this change. So send any great suggestions, and persuasive arguments our way, thank you, Sandra

Arrange a private meeting with the Mayor of your town. Bring with you to the meeting a petition signed by as many folks as you can get to request the changes you want. Explain to him that in these difficult times, it is important for you to not only raise your own food, but that this is a means to "get back to the earth" and be green as we are lead to believe we should. Worked for my City. Took one year for the ordinance to get processed and become law.

Love it! Love the "green" idea. I had emailed r planng director. When he emailed back, right @ the bottom it said, "don't print unless necessary". Everyone wants to be green, even the city, so its not only a good concept, but a great buzz wrd and of course, in these times, we all understand the need to b as frugal as possible. Great ideas, thx K8tie
