Today was a sad day...I lost my best Delaware hen to a predator! I know it wasn't my dogs they were locked up and they don't mess with the anyway. I was out putting a net over their run and realized one was missing. I saw a small hole dug at the far end of the run. I turned and looked into the field and my lab was snooping at something. So I rode the ATV over to where she was, and found a pile of feathers, then she was dragged then another pile, dragged again then the feathers disappeared! So the next couple hens I hatch I will probably keep, given that they are breeding quality.
On another note, we had some white Leghorns start hatching this morning. The other chicks will be hatching a week from now. They are all for sell but I will try to raise them up a little before I push to sell.
