I was checking cackle and found out their new full color catalog has 84 pages. [IMG] Also they have a new minimun of pullet-city for 5 or 10 for the city folks. Sounds good to me. [IMG]

I'm sure that will make alot of people happy. Our local farm store will only sell 30 of them. Not everybody can have 30 chickens. I can though! [IMG]

I got my Cackle catalog today!!
On page 81 they have this special. This is great!
I know it will help the ones who only can have hens & a small number.

It is called "City - Town Pullet Specials" or "Small Order Specials"
They have 6 different specials on chicks in this section.
The cost is a bit higher, but they say it is because of the special handling it takes to ship this small amount of chicks.
You can get 5 pullets of one breed for $41.00, all shipping included.
10 pullets (you can order 5 of two different breeds) for $51.00, all shipping included.

I may consider this if I want to try out a different breed.

If I order from a hatchery, I always use Cackle. I just like their chicks best. And before they got so popular, it was easy to get in touch with them. Now, I understand they have had some issues with their phone system and didn't expect the great amount of calls they had last year. I believe they are continuing to try to resolve this problem.
When you do get in touch, they are a nice group of people.

Has anyone ordered more than they wanted and tried to sell the rest on craigs?
  5. I too was just looking at Cackle website about an hour ago.

I really thought it was nice the "City - Town Pullet Specials" - it will definately be better on the people who cant have Roos ,less worry when ordering

I was checking out their new coops too , if you havent seen them yet you may want to take a peek ! [IMG]

Quote:I never have a problem selling chicks or POL pullets on CL in our area. Last year the feed storess sold out very early. Then there are the people who don't want to deal with little chicks so POL works for them (I charge cost of chick plus $1/week of age). And lastly, this year I'm ordering a breed that none of the feed stores order and have already increased my order twice due to pre-sales.

The whole reason I ordered from Ideal was cuz I could get 3 of this and 3 of that and only pullets. I didn't want a roo til I found this site. But also cuz I didn't want the usual RIR and Barred Rocks. I read up on chickens and found some neat breeds and wanted those. The feed store told me I couldn't order some of this and that. Their loss.
Still I'm sure there are those who would like a variety but don't want 25.
I been in contact w/ a farm that orders chicks and sells them just like the feed stores.
On the other hand my SLW's have flat combs instead of rose combs. My red frizzle bantam have black in them. I have a runt Dominique. My CM's lay eggs to light. My Dels I'm not sure of.
Still all are asthetically pleasing to watch. But I gotta get some Aruacanas. I gotta have some colored eggs to go in with the ones I sell.
