Eggs and breeding

If you want eggs, they are great. But not for breeding if you plan to breed to the standard. They will breed no problem, but you won't be helping the breeds by breeding poor quality birds.

Look for a breeder and get ducklings from them. There are SEVERAL good breeders who breed anconas (I am one of them) and welsh are fairly easy to find as well (I bred them for 5+ years but sold my flocks this spring). You will likely end up paying a little more than if you got them at cackle, but they are definitely worth the extra $ as you will see the difference in quality
