I am just creating this thread to talk about my issues I have had with cackle hatchery.
1- they sent me a chicken with 4 legs!
2- After talking to customer service about said chicken- they totally blew me off and didn't respond back to me for WEEKS
3- After I did get in touch with CS they told me there was nothing the could do and no refunds were given.

I am overall not happy with them. Fell free to disagree or share your stories too!

Cackle Hatchery, much like every other hatchery, does not guarantee 100% success in sexting. Thats why they send an extra chicks, that and just incase of a loss. They state this before an order is placed, therefore it isn't just for them to refund for an accidental roo. It will always be a risk with any chicks, regardless of where you get them. As far as the 4 legged chick, that is unacceptable. It doesn't take much time or effort to quickly visually inspect a chick for defects before shipping. That is poor on their employees part, but the sexting is no guarantees and not a reason for a refund. They are fairly reputable for proper sexting, but there is always that risk of a roo anywhere and any time. When i go into the hatchery, they definitely look out for the best interest of their chicks. They ask the customers to use proper hygiene in their facility. They thoroughly educate you and ask questions about their transport and housing to determine the best outcome and health for the chicks even before they leave their facility. I have been very pleased with them, will continue to use them, and do recommend them.

The roo was a sex link. It is pretty much 100% I assume they didn't refund for the 4 legged because she was an extra though.

Which breed was is. Sex linking isn't always 100% accurate either. With some sex link mixes, females can have spots on top of the head too, just not quite as big of ones as males. The spots can be easily mistakeable. As can various other coloring sex links. Sex links aren't always fool proof either and you will never get 100% accuracy guarantees.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I've never ordered from Cackle, so I can't say anything about that, though I think everyone has their good and bad experiences.
I've ordered from MPC before, though, because they were the only place that sexed bantams. We ordered the six-bantam minimum 2 times, and BOTH times one of the chicks in the batch ended up with severe scissor beak and had a horrible quality of life until it died or we put it down. NOT fun. :rant
I also really hate MPC's 'designer breeds.' They just create a mutt, give it a cutesy name, and then price them at 20$ a chick.

I'm a little unclear: how many female chicks did you order, and how live many female chicks did you receive?

Hatcheries usually guarantee that you receive the correct number of live chicks, and they usually guarantee that 90% of the chicks are the correct gender.
