Cackle hatchery

I got the rare breed special (15 of them!) two weeks ago. One was failure to thrive but the others have been HARDY. There were two we were worried were FTT as well and some TLC has them growing now! They may just be small breeds but they’re all wonderful! We had one that was an eye pecker too (a Polish of all things!) but he’s not only grown out of it, but is super sweet with some babies we added. There have been absolutely no other health issues and the variety was STELLAR.

We’ve got 10 more rare breed special and 10 of the top hat special coming June 25th and we can’t wait! It definitely was a pleasant experience and they helped me when I chose the date wrong and fixed it no questions.

We have had multiple chicks shipped from Cackle, and are very happy with the birds and their service. They send extras, and have been the same breeds and sexes we ordered in that shipment, so no 'mystery chicks'. Once the chicks arrived dead, thanks to USPS, and we got a replacement order.
All nice birds, typical for their breeds, a good place to get chicks, IMO.
And I'm glad that this year has gone well with shipped chicks!

How is your luck with this hatchery is it good or bad. Are your birds what you wanted or no. Were your birds all live when picked up and if not how many fatalities. I just picked mine up 11 Hamburg’s and 11 phoenixs 24 hours later 5 Hamburg’s 4 phoenix anyone had bad luck with their purchase recently or in the past?

I ordered 5 chicks from Cackle Hatchery and received 6 — which at first seemed like a nice gesture, until one died 2 days later. From the moment I opened the shipping box, all the chicks were itching, biting at their backs, and scratching their heads and beaks nonstop. It was obvious something was wrong from the start.

When I reached out to Cackle with a short video and details, their response was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. They questioned my setup, implied I didn’t know what I was doing, and seemed more interested in deflecting blame than offering any real support. I’ve been raising chicks for 15 years — I know how to care for them properly.

Within days, 2 of the 5 remaining chicks couldn’t even stand up and were extremely weak. With extra care and attention, I’ve managed to get them through the worst — but it’s been heartbreaking and exhausting. These chicks clearly arrived compromised, and Cackle knew it — that’s likely why they threw in a 6th one “just in case.”

I would never order from them again. It’s been a very difficult and stressful experience, and as of now (the chicks are about 10 days old), I’m still not sure they’re completely out of the danger zone.
