Cackle hatchery's Hatchery Surprise- Anybody got this before?

Pics
I'm having so much fun watching this thread. Maybe I'll do this next year. (I currently have 30 chicks ages 2-5 wks, so I don't need more right now). :)

I bet you get a lot of bantams. You said in the comments you liked bantams right?
I did ask for bantams in the comments section but I'm not sure if they really pay attention...I hope they do! A pound difference is crazy! I guess I had 'forgotten' to mention to my husband how many birds we might be getting...he didn't understand why I wanted to go to TSC and get another set of feeders/waterers and an extra heat lamp...oooopps!

We do plan on selling/giving away most of them. I mainly did it for the experience. We'll see how it goes if I do it again next year!

yelnad-do you know the breed of the chick you have for your profile pic? One of mine (the bantam from TSC) looks just like it and we have no idea what she (fingerscrossed!) is. She has dark legs (slate maybe?) and a few feathers going down but none on her toes. I posted a pic on 'what breed' and I got a couple of responses that thought OEGB but that was before I mentioned the feathered legs and I haven't heard back!

I hope you order the surprise next year...at this rate I don't think my husband will let me order it again (and they aren't even here yet!)

Hi! We're pretty sure it's a silver laced wyandotte. Mine has light legs and no feathers on her legs at all.

This thread is so much fun! We have about twice as many chicks as our brand new coop will hold. Hoping we can do this sometime.

I have a question, though! I see a lot of you talking about chicken addictions and math (send us the cure! We've got the sickness) and I was wondering what you all do for coops. Just keep building them? I feel like there must be some magic answer I'm not thinking of

We have an incubator arriving tomorrow, too and already need another coop for the chicks we have!
