Cackleberry Cottage~~comes to life!

This is how the run looks now. Still needs the welded wire added on.

That's nice to be able to build your coop under that sturdy run roof. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out!

Yes, it is. I originally wanted something like a Carolina Coop, but this is what I got, so I am trying to make the best of it. I think it will work out fine.

Plus if the time ever comes we don't want to raise chickens anymore, the back wall of the run can be removed along with the wooden fence, the coop taken out and we can use the run as a carport since our driveway is just on the other side of the wooden fence. Trying to think ahead as well.

Yesterday, some progress was made. The guys spent a fair amount of time figuring out the angle for the roof rafters. They eventually got it all sorted out. They also got some of the framing in for the windows.

The above picture is the front of the coop. It will have two windows and 4 external nest boxes across the front. What would have been the middle or 5th nest box, will be the covered entry way since we don't really need 5 nest boxes. You can see it framed out in the picture. There will be two next boxes on either side of the entry way.

There will also be one window on each side of the coop and the whole back wall will be two doors the will completely open up for easy cleaning and extra ventilation in the summer. My husband will make two screens out of hardware cloth next spring if we decide to keep the back doors open at night during the summer months. There will also be ventilation on all four sides under the roof that will be open year round as well as the 4 windows and 2 doors. I do hope I haven't forgotten anything!
