Cage for duck pool?

I have a cage that the ducks are in, but it is not big enough to fit my pool inside, which is pretty big. The only time they can go swimming is if someone is sitting out there with them because there are predators around such as hawks that sit in trees above the pool, so I can't leave them out there. Before my family leaves for work or school somebody has to sit outside in the winter in below freezing temps so they can swim. What should I do to make it so they can go to the pool anytime? Should I just staple some chicken wire on some 2x4's and make sort of a temporary cage covering their pool that connects to their original cage or what? Any help appreciated - Thanks

Your idea sounds fine. The hawks can be stopped with regular chicken wire.
