Caged bird eggs

Where do you find these type of eggs, and are they fairly easy to sell the chicks? My daughter and I would just be doing it for fun, is it best for us to stick with chickens and ducks?

Yeah stick to chickens and ducks. Any type of parrot egg is very fragile and can't be shipped like chicken and duck eggs can. You could get a pair of zebra finches, they lay eggs allot and hatch them all the time. But make sure you are careful about breeding them. If you do get some don't let them breed to much. Two clutches of eggs a year is what I did with my zebras when I had them.

Most responsible breeders do not sell eggs. They do not travel well and many people just can not properly incubate them. Not to mention the care required for raising a chick from a caged bird species. It is much harder than raising poultry and depending upon the species mortality rates may be high. Unless you have lots of incubator experience, a good avian vet, and someone with plenty of caged bird experience I would stay away from trying to hatch eggs. A better alternative may be to save up for a good quality pair of the species you want and allow them to brood their own offspring.

awesome advice, just what I was looking for... I definitely don't have that much experience with incubating, so i defifnitely don't want to kill off any poor birds. I ask because I want point in time my husband and I were interested in a caged house bird, but I think ducks and chicks it it =) thanks again for the sound advice. I certainly appreciate it.
