I just purchased 7 chickens that were raised in cages. They have blunted beaks and long nails as well as missing feathers. My question is this, is there anything I need to do or can do to help them get back to the "normal" chicken look?

You are doing a good thing for those birds. Their beaks will not regrow. Watch and make sure they are able to eat and drink - they should be fine, but may need deep feed dishes.

If you have other birds make sure the new ones go into isolation. The feathers will grow back when they get more space and stop pecking anymore.

You can trim nails with dog trimmer.

Good luck and good for you

These birds are the only ones I have so far. I have seen two eggs since I got them. One when I picked them up and one as I was trimming their wings. Both eggs were broken during the process. There have been no more since then. I know that after stress it takes awhile for them to lay. Any suggestions on how long it might take? I check on them a couple times a day and they are not so spooked by my presence anymore. We have been doing some adjustments to the feeding and watering systems but things are calming down.
