I'm sorry, but this was a legit question before and I have to repost because my other one got locked...https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/623379/caging-chickens...but here's what it said:

I want to get some chickens and put them in cages like this
http://www.enasco.com/product/C16751N
or like this
http://www.tractorsupply.com/home-rig-house-trade-rabbit-cage-24-in-x24-in--2179407

Pros? Cons? What do you think?

---

It will be full-time housing. I want to put them in there because I currently am having issues with overly inquisitive black bears around here and I thought they would be better up off the ground rather than in a building on the floor or outside. I wouldn't put young chickens in there, I would brood them in my house. Then I would move the birds (I will have less than ten) into my garage when they are about 12-15 weeks old. (We don't park in the garage.) Unless you can think of a better situation for the chickens, please feel free to tell me. If you think caging them would be a good idea (like commercial egg operations or even people who raise rabbits), which cage do you think would be better for them?

P.S. Don't worry Hodawg, it was NOT a PETA troll. There ain't nothin' more in this world that I can't stand then them.

Is this for when they are just chicks and very young pullets, and only for garage use?
Where will they be housed when they are full grown?

That would cost A LOT to house 8-10 birds. You can use a coop as long as its secure. Do you have an unused shed? I would not suggest caging them in the garage. A bear will get into anything (even your Garage if it wants in there bad enough). Have you thought about building a coop with Maybe a bear fence around it. I am really clad that we do not have bears around here!
