"Caine" use in poulrty

I have read repeatedly on BYC that all "caine" use should be strictly avoided in poultry, that it is dangerous. I have tried finding information on this and have been unable to find any. Does anyone have a link to a site that would both confirm this and explain why? I am mostly referring to topical caine use for wound treatment. Thanks.
