Calcium Carbonate Supplement - How Much?

I have untreated star fish"shells". They are calcium carbonate. What do you think if i hang these in my chicken run to keep the chickens busy? They seen to like to play and are much happier when they are occupied.

the bag you bought is some sort of pickstone for the birds when they need it they'll pick it up. leave it to a tray accessible to the birds just give enough to last a week. you must provide clean stuff everytime but in this case every week if possible they should get fresh supply.

lol, I'm in west texas, my run is built on a lime stone ledge with some dirt/gravel. My shells are thick.. no need to supliment with anything
