When giving the equate calcium and vitamin d3 supplement do you just give the tablet to them crushed up or can you put it in water and let it dissolve first?

You can give them the pill whole, just pull down gently in her wattles to open her beak and pop it in. She will swallow it

Agree. I find it easiest and safest to do this at night when they've gone to roost. Saves chasing and trying to catch; if it's as hot where you are as it is where I am you could end up with a bird dead from heat stroke.

The problem with that is, in order to get the entire dose, they have to drink ALL the water you dissolved it in. Trust me, the chicken can swallow the entire pill. Did you know a chicken can swallow a whole mouse or frog easily? That tiny hole you see at the back of the throat is not where food goes. That's the air hole. Food goes down along the side and it's like a pocket, it has an enormous capacity. Just put the pill in the beak, let her close it and trust nature.
