Hello all! Nice to be here. Trying like crazy to learn something about ducks as this was an unexpected hobby that I wasnt planning on until I retire in a couple more years.

(1) Are you new to ducks / when did you first get ducks?
New to ducks as they were unexpected. We live in the country and have plenty of land for ducks, chickens, etc. The people that live across the road don't seem to take any responsibility for the animals they breed. There are constantly breeding new chickens, ducks, puppies and kittens running all over the area and they seem to be coming from their house. I had six Swedish blue ducks roaming around the area freely and they didnt seem to be cared for, fed, given water, etc. They were always bedding down in my front yard or in my bushes. I felt bad for them because we were going to a heat wave so, I put out a kiddie pool in the shade. I also put out food and drinking water every day. The ducks pretty much lived in that pool all day. After a couple weeks, I got an alert on my security cams and some wild dogs killed five of them in the middle of the night. I found the one lone survivor at sun up and got her in to my fenced off property in the back of house. I provided everything she needed, a pool, food, fresh water, lots of clean straw and shelter. I could only find four Muscovies to keep her company in the mean time. I have since got two more female mallards and they are doing great!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Six Total
(3) What breeds do you have?

One Blue Swedish, 3 Muscovies(more on that later) and two female mallards

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Their behaviors and socializing. Plus, I get to redneck engineer things for them to make it easier to water and feed them.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Playing drums, brewing beer.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Semi Retired. I work from home. Been working in Information Technology now for 40 years. Live out in the country amongst the peach, almond and olive orchards with my wife, two doggos and my big Maine Coon tom cat.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Looking for info on Google.
