Calibrating a Digital Thermometer/Hygrometer

Yes! I made my DH drive 38 miles to Wal-Mart with a note "AccuRite Hygrometer...where the rain gauges are kept...if they have anything else aside from the Springfield GET IT!"

He comes back with the Springfield and told me he went to customer service and everything and that is all they had. Argh!

but if you do research and check around...they all are made in the factory and set right...when they pack and ship them out...thats when they lost there averages...so just about everyone and every kind you buy will have some problems.

yeah... I'm using a bendy straw and a syringe from walgreens..

Ok, so I am incubating Mallard duck eggs in an older LG with a turner, I have been using a little squeeze bottle and aquarium tubing to put the water in, I have that SAME walmart humididy temp thing! Arrgh! I do have another thermometer though, and it seems it is staying about 100 in there and about 55% humidity, but I am going to try the salt thing in a ziplock to test it overnight tonight, I hope the humidity is right, I don't want to drown the poor things....

I'm worried about my eggs. The hydro has read 35-38% for 16 days, but I think the air sacks are too small. I think the babies are going to drown. I have not added water at all. My room humidity is 38% and it has not been necessary to add water. I don't know how to get the humidity down any further. I do not have access to a dehumidifier.

How long have you been incubating them? From everything I've read and have been told, they would not be drowning at 38%.. If anything they would be shrink wrapped... 45-55% during days 1-18 and then 70% days 19-21

Humidity and temp affected remember goddess by the surrounding are in the room the bator is in...drop the temp..and things change in the bator....and know your humidity is fine...you dont want higher humiditiy until you need them to have it 18-21 days....

Egg must lose 11-14% weight during incubation ...it has to evaporate, the contents for the chick to have room to move, and develope and turn...to much humidity causes evaporation to stop or slow down. Can cause chick to grow too big and will die, can cause punture to the internal membrance, gushing fluids into it causing it to drown.
