Greetings,
My name is Pam and my screen name was invented because I'm hoping that my new hens, who are only a Dream at the moment, will boss my two Standard Poodles around (Spoos). Haley is my service dog for balance and Rocky is her son who is being trained with the same tasks because of her age and possible retirement soon.
I copied the questions suggested so here we go.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had Chickens about 20 years ago but had to move from that house.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We will be moving to our new home in a month which already has a lovely chicken coop so it won't be long till I can answer this question with a positive number!
(3) What breeds do you have?
I've been watching chicken breed videos and have some ideas but have to be careful because I'm only allowed five hens no roosters. Smart, docile, friendly , beautiful, good layers. So I'm very open to suggestions.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Of course the eggs and watching their antics.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, cooking, canning, studying medical issues, painting, Grooming my poodles and working with them.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Only my husband and I will be moving to San Diego, fully retired. He had very successful residential remodeling company and I am a retired pharmacist. We are leaving the rain and unfortunately our children and grandchildren which is sad, but we needed a new chapter in our lives And we will see them often. Haley and Rocky are discussed above. And I'm looking forward to making them and the hens a cohesive family.
Any thoughts or ideas are welcome!
