I am so excited! So, I have been stalking this forum (along with a few others) for years planning. I didn't join just watched and read. has to be over 10 years by now, i had 3 for a few years (they were already 2+ when I got them.) and didn't feel up to having more in the home until i was more physically and financially up to caring for them. Which has come around and my babies will be here next week!
Now to a few more of the questions....
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
There will be 14 coming!!
(3) What breeds do you have?
The babies coming are salmon Faverolles, and ultimately i want to add some other colors that are not common in the US, as well as Brahmas, possibly phoenixs as well. i haven't decided about them yet. I may just stick with the two and make them as great as I can. hopefully.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I don't have much yet, but I do love the different breeds, as well as the lovely colors!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading: I practically inhale good fantasy books and enjoy recommending and receiving good recommendations as well.

I also am currently working on two different books of my own, though I have no idea when it will end.
Artwork: Not only enjoying others like Melody Pena, Aaron Blaise, and a few others, I also do my own artwork of other peoples animals and fantasy as a bit of side money.
Music: I used to be a semi professional singer, you wont any any cd's or things with just me. But once i get settled in my new place (we just moved) i plan to set up my recording equipment and try a youtube channel.
Some of my favorite singers: Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Arethra Franklin, Amy Lee, Barbra Streisand, Bomshel, Cher, Christina Aguilera, and many others. but im picky, i actually can distinguish perfect pitch even without my previous training. If you like some of the youtube music people peter hollens is one of the best out there!
Raising and showing Quality Maine Coon Cats, Pet rats, dachshunds, great danes and a mix bag of almost everything else in between.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 6 Maine coons and mixes. I just moved onto 11 acres about half an hour away from Redding CA. I was from the bay area smack dab between Sacramento and San Fransisco. I used to be a small animal and exotic veterinary technician until my body crapped out on me. I am trying to find a work from home job but until them im on disability. not fun, but its life. I am a single mom who is living with my dad and taking care of him as I can. Hence the move. My daughter is 12 and just starting to look forward to being on a farm.
I apologize if this is to much info, I enjoy talking about my passions (if you cant tell?)
I added some images of my artwork, one of my coonies, and my dane. Soon as I get my babies I will have lots more pictures to share!!
