California gray chickens

I been trying to cross barred rock with leghorn to get California grays. So far each time chicks have came out yellow. Have crossed barred roo with leghorn hen and leghorn roo with barred hen. What am I missing? The pic is from leghorn roo and barred rock hen.

White Leghorns carry dominant white. So they produce white offspring when crossed.

No. Barred Leghorns are a pure bred. California Greys are a Plymouth Rock/Leghorn hybrid.

California greys are a breed. They were developed from leghorns and barred rocks as a dual purpose breed. I don't believe they were ever accepted by the APA or very popular.
They are definitely not the same as barred leghorns though.
