I'd be worried that the chickens would peck it to death as well as the disease factor. My husband found a baby magpie that can't fly. I don't know why. It looks fully feathered to me. He put it in with my 2 month old chickens. I don't want it in there because of disease. He doesn't get it. I am going to be really upset if my chickens suffer. Esp after everything I have read on these boards. What should we do with it? I don't want it anywhere near my chickens but they have already been exposed.
I had that happen with doves in the chicken coop & run. The girls killed then ate the doves. Ewww - lesson learned.
Is it a yellow-billed magpie?
I'd love to rescue it. We have them locally & if the little guy is rehab-able (?) I could release it where there's buddies for him.
Otherwise, I'd willing to give it a permanent home. I have a couple of extra empty large cages.
They are neat, smart birds - similar to mynahs.
