California-Southern

good morning everyone! I am looking to upgrade my starter coop and wondered if anyone knew of a good place to get attractive and sturdy chicken coops in Southern California?

there are a few people on Craigs list that do a decent job.... it really depends on how elaborate you want to go. I prefer the ones that start out as a wooden lawn shed then turned into a coop That way you can decorate it any way you want... I have also seen some pretty cool Kids playhouses turned into coops as well.

Me personally I would go with something I can walk in and have a little area to store feed and keep extra stuff in... No stooping to clean ...

Good luck Oh and just about any good carpenter can take a look at a picture and build you something suitable. Take a look at the coops pages for ideas.

From the Crazy H-Bar Ranch;
Wow, time sure flies when you're setting up for an event. Trying to get all my ducks in a row.... well all my chickens anyway, for next Saturday. It will be here too quick. I love the response from interested people, so lets keep it up... Please keep the lists updated with whatever you will be bringing or what it is that you're looking for. I would like to take this opportunity now (because I will forget on Saturday) to thank everyone for your support and interest in helping to make this a successful event. I look forward to meeting new friends and seeing old friends (Susan). Again, thanks so much and hit me up if you have any questions.

Side note: Those of you who are bringing stuff for the raffle, could you please PM me with a list of the items that you plan to bring so I can put together a schedule, thanks again.

Hey SD friends, I just got this message from another SD friend who can't make it to the meet but needs help to transport something to me. Can someone meet up with them to bring it to the meet for me please? Thanks for your help...

Hi,

I checked today and Armstrong also has rice hulls for the same price as Joe. My husband got three bales from Joe with you in mind for one. I don't know if we'll make it to the meet up so it would be nice to start looking for someone who could meet us at the park and ride at Old Castle and take it up to you. We haven't used them yet so we're anxious to see what they're like. Do you know if many San Diego people are taking the 15 up? Terry says it's only about 45 minutes from here so that's closer than most of them.
Thanks,
Lois

Good morning everyone. I was wondering if they're was anyone who wanting to see any chicken related demos at the meet up? Post your thoughts here and we will see what we will see!!! I would love to come to the meet and greet! I missed the specifics. I'm sure the time and place have been posted but could someone please repost?
Also, if someone has a hen house for sale or play house that I can convert, please let me know and maybe we can meet up on Saturday!

You are all cordially invited to the first Annual (Maybe) Lake Elsinore, CPP/BYC South meet-up. The date is November 15 and the location will be at Lakepoint Park, at 420 E Lakeshore Dr Lake Elsinore, CA. 92530. Starts at 10am until dusk. There are trees, a playground, restrooms, and a limited amount of picnic tables w/bbq's (3 in the area). Plenty of parking, but will have to make an aprox 100 yard walk. The spot is overlooking the lake and the weather should be perfect. So come one, come all and tell a friend and pack a picnic lunch.
Feel free to add what you're looking for or what you want to bring. And please share the tread. Any questions, PM me... Thanks...

Just a reminder... 5 more days!
