I am new and do not have my quail yet. I am in Torrance, CA with grumpy neighbors so chickens are not an option.

Posting a “Hello” from Southern California, Murrieta to be exact. Originally from the Central Coast (Santa Maria). I’m ‘the new Chick on the block’... I have wanted Silkies ever since I saw them about 20 years ago up at the Avila Barn in San Luis Obispo, Ca. At the time, my little ones and I called them “The Fuzzy Chickens”! And we have absolutely adored visiting them consistently. And now I finally have my own! I’m very excited to be starting off as a new Silkie owner. So far they have been so much fun to raise, I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

Hi out there. My sweet Platypus is now alone after her backyard buddy passed away. We had to put our other duck down due to health and quality-of-life issues. She is a beautiful Swedish Blue, 5 year old female. Very healthy and active. She has had a wonderful life free-roaming our backyard and spending nights in a predator-proof pen. She likes her people around, but does not want to be handled often. I hope to find her a nice home with an experienced duck owner and at least 1 female duck buddy (or a larger flock, if it works out that way). I am in San Diego, but I am willing to drive pretty far to get her to a good home. I've never given a pet away before, this truly bums me out but she deserves a social home. I attached a picture, she is the grayish one (Swedish Blue).

There seem to be quite a lot of people who raise ducks out in Hemet. If you have Facebook, there’s a page dedicated to ‘Hemet Farmers Exchange’, you might have some luck that way. Hope she finds a good home!

McMurray Hatchery will have some sexed chicks and pullets available to ship September 28. We ordered some day-old chicks from them since after the Newcastle virus it was difficult to find chicks in southern California this summer. We ordered 17 and only one died after a few days. They offer free shipping.

Hey y’all! I’m in the San Diego area of California, Poway to be exact. There’s a chance I may be going into life saving Kidney Transplant surgery and need help finding someone willing and able to tend to a flock of 4 ducks. They’re back yard hooligans. I checked with my vet today after I heard the news, and they told me to call back Monday to speak with a specific doctor. I may be a wee bit incapacitated by then. Are there any Duck lovers in this part of the world willing and able to check in on my duckies from time to time? I will gladly over-compensate you for time, expenses, gas, etc.
