I have 11 chickens! I insist they free range the backyard and I check on them often. I really enjoy watching them, I admit I do obsess over them a little but.....I guess he doesn't like them pooping everywhere, but he doesn't have to clean up after them at all. I guess I talk about them too much. What can I do?
Compromise, compromise, and compromise. Section off a smaller area. Ixnay on the ickenchay talk while you're around him. Keep your projects on the down-low. Don't draw attention to them. We had planned a five chicken flock; 4 hens and 1 rooster. The day we set-up our little coop we bought the little guys, that night I agreed to rescue another 5 plus a coop. Since I have raised it to 16 and almost got another 10 plus 2 ducks. So, I too have a problem with limitations... I just don't talk about it.....much.

My rooster crowed for the first time ever! It sounded more like several loud honks, than a crow! But still, it was loud. I went outside and told him to shut his mouth, the neighbors won't appreciate that "special" noise. He says happy thanksgiving, is everyone thankful the crazy lady keeps chickens? Sorry everyone!

Hi, my name is Jody and I am a new poultry leader for Fallbrook 4-H. We have a great group of kids this year who are eager to learn! Some of them would like to purchase a bird to show at the San Diego County Fair next year. I would like to give the families names of local southern Cal breeders who could help a 4-H member find the right bird for them. If you are a breeder would you please give me your information so I could pass it on to them? Thank you!!

Too funny, our RIR rooster has still not found his big boy voice yet, his crow is always a lil different. My kids told me that they thought they heard him say, "Oh my god". Now I thought they were as crazy as they think I am for getting the chickens. Yesterday when we got home from breakfast, as we got out of the truck we heard Red crowing, and to my surprise it sounded just like that, "Oh my God", Although, he can't really pronounce "M's" on account he has no lips, but it did sound pretty close. We all get a good laugh from him...
