Hi all! I am looking to upgrade my starter boxed coop. I would like a shed style hen house because I already have a large run. Do any of you know of a carpenter or handyman or a source for a simple and reasonable shed?
Thanks in advance!

You might check out craigslist. Oh and Home depot has been having sales... including assembly for their wood sheds.

How many will you be hatching for the class ?

I usually set 12 chicks...I also hatch ducks and quails with them. This way we look at the difference is eggs, incubation time and how each bird looks! I am looking to set Bantam Cochins this year because I want to add some and I have friends and family who would like some as well. I make sure I am hatching what friends/family or myself are looking for so all the babies get good homes....they are pets for us

From the Crazy H-Bar Ranch;
Today, we would like to wish Susan Maclean a very well deserved Happy Birthday. I met this lady a couple of years ago at a meet-up for chicken raisers. I met a lot of friendly people and some that just seemed a little.... off! Some more than others. Then I met Susan and I thought, if raising chickens makes me act like her and some of these people at the meet-up, then I will stick to McNuggets and raising goldfish!!!! At first glance, this women IS a little more "off" then most and it always appears she is moving beyond the speed limit. But today, I can say she's one of my very good friends. (just not too loud in mixed company or when she has a rooster in her arms, which is like...always) I have learned many things from Susan about this new hobby of ours at the Ranch due to her vast knowledge. (because she's older than dirt) All kidding aside, Susan, thanks for being there for all of us when our animals are sick and we need some medical advice...Thanks for bringing doughnuts to the meet up on the 28th...Thanks for being the "Enabler" to so many Backyard chicken herders...Thank you for being the rescuer to many chickens and a pigeon and to more than a handful of people...Thanks for being you, Susan! Happy Birthday "Crazy Chicken Lady".
