HEY! I grew up, a kid, in 1940's Vista 10 miles inland from Oceanside before any freeways were built & there were only farms & little back roads to travel from town to town. Escondido was our nearest shopping town for the big JCPenny store teehee! As a 5-yr-old kid I remember standing in the Vista street parade line to watch the 200-inch Palomar telescope lens get transported by truck traveling so carefully slow on its way to the mountain observatory ~ nothing to see as the giant lens was well covered/anchored on a long open-bed truck! Today Vista is an unrecognizable city & my folks' old 27 acres groves & livestock farm has been divided into smaller acreages w/ new homes!
