CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread

Well nothing from the shipped eggs and all I got from mine were the 2 lav egg projects. I'm playing musical brooder today. Took the older babies out of the big one since they're all feathered out and stuck my Silkied AM chick and 3 others in there. Also put the olive eggers on CL. Hope they sell.

Well good luck whatever you decide.

Rattlers love rocky outcroppings so you might want to cruise the area when you spot a place you like. Yes the closer to rocky hills you get the more likely you are to find snakes but there are some great solutions out there on the net (the fencing you mentioned works well the repellents they have for sale everywhere don't). We get them here and I almost stepped on one not a month after we moved in but it just let me know it was there and then moved off. Rattlers are very timid creatures and most strikes happen to males between the ages of 18 and 25 while they are pursuing the snake. I have been researching snake barrier fencing for a few months now since my male shepherd is entirely too curious and I doubt he'd stop just because a snake warned him to. lol

I am sure you will love it there once you all find the perfect place! The city has a lot of really fun stuff to do and the foothills are simply gorgeous!!! I would love to retire somewhere near Auburn someday. Beautiful there!

Well thank goodness you got 2 lavender babies! You know my feelings on shipped eggs coming through Reno... I'd rather drive several days to pick up eggs.

Crud. Woke up and hour ago and my neck and shoulder are killing me. I think it's the cold. Went to get Kayla's clothes together and she says she wanted to lay on my bed and watch TV, so I told her she WAS going to school. She says "Sully grandma, there's no school today." Then Dakotah just now walked out of his room. Who stole friday??? I'm going back to bed and see if I can get my neck to stop hurting. I spent yesterday thinking "If I could just sleep in and rest!"

WC black polish, silver penciled rocks, bantam BR & bantam buff brahma

I ended up driving to W. Sac to fetch them. They missed the only truck coming up the hill to my PO and I didn't want them to sit and possibly get stuck until Monday.

I was out taking care of the rabbits and one of my roos mounted my baby, Rockette. athen 2 more ran over before I could get to her and they mounted and then started fighting right on top of her. I can't figure out where her comb was bleeding, but I put pressure on it till it stopped. She won't stand up, but she doesn't seem to be badly hurt. She's be in with my other SPPRs but my hens are mean to her and I've been trying to get them used to eachother for months. She really doesn't like being picked up but she's good once you hold her. Right now I have her sitting on my lap watching her. Those roos are usually pretty gentel, but man that was abusive!

Awe.....you guys are killing me with all these new chicks! This is the first years in three years that I don't have babies running around! Not that I could care for them right now because of my back surgery but dang! They're SO cute!
