I took one of my grand daughters out today to shop for a pattern and material. She wants me to make her prom dress. I made sure the inside chicks and Rockette had food and I started out the flront door and heard Rockette moving in her little box. I had intended to put half of my older chicks into a tub I brought in, but I needed to ship off eggs and was up till 6 am and didn't wake up and get up till 2pm. By the time I had a shower and got ready I had to run, but I thought.....hmmmmm. I bet she's going to head for that brooder again. So Rockette was moved to the tub and has a lid on top. She's glared at me when I got home, like I had put her in prison, but the house wasn't in flames when I got home. The bottom of the toaster box dropped out when I tried to put her into the tub and keep her in the box, but she doesn't seem to be spread out like she had been. No sun bathing for Rockette today. I really can't believe how hot she felt when I picked her up the other time. She was way past toasty. Thank goodness for tile flooring. The floor was pretty hot and chicks were warming in the cooler spots. At least the ones who weren't trying to find a way back in.
Horrible hatch with 6 out of 104, but it sure beats zero, so I'm happy. Only one of my purple eggs hatched, but it's a pretty little lav chick. The others that hatched are from the eggs I'm trying to get more purle eggs from. No breeds I was hoping for. I sure hope the next 4 hhatches haven't been ruined. Hopefully not, since I did get at least these 6.
