I thought I was going to be on more, but Dec ended up being a hard time for me, so I stayed low key and rarely got online. Hope you all had a great holiday.
So how many are going to make it to Stockton this month? Can't wait!
I need some help with something. Where can I take my old Sportsman to be serviced? Needs to be in or very close to Modesto. Last year's hatches were my worse yet and I'm determined to make sure I get better ones this year. If it hadn't been for broodies I'd have had close to nothing hatching. I was going to get rid of some breeds, but every time I looked in a pen I remembered that this one or that one was a great broody, so haven't gotten rid of any of them... opps! Anyway I'm just not sure what's going on and I need good hatches this year. Sure would be nice to get back into the 90's and 100's when I set those eggs. I do get a few, very few to hatch, but it has to be something with the bators and that one holds the big numbers and I want big numbers. The others are scrubbed and bleached, and waiting to be plugged back in. I still haven't unplugged one, cause I just can't seem to do it. I March I'll have had at least one bator going 24/7 for 4 years. Guess I feel like at least one has to be going or I won't do it later. hehe
I lost the blue AM pullets I hatched out to one of my dogs. I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to go into the dog run or even how they got in other than flying over the gate, but they did. All 3! Have to use the black pullets from that pen now to breed to my blue roos. I do have blue hens, but was working on a little younger girls. I have some pretty lavenders though. Well that is, as long as they don't go visit that dang dog! I'd like to wring her neck, but she was penned, so my fault. Hoping to get my Chocolate Bantam AMs going better this year and a lot of my FBCM hens are getting up there in age, so need to hatch out as many of those breeds as I can, which means those bators have to cook em correctly!
