At the auction and need some info. NEED to pass in breeder contacton whoever has quality OEGBs for sale. asap

I think Jimm & Bonnie Sallee raise them for the 4Hers. You can reach them at 296-8084. I am not absolutely sure because I am not into game birds but they are very small & the kids flock to them.
I just got up & went to check their business card & it does shown that as one of their breeds. I got my Buff Orpingtons from them & am delighted with them.

Well my first Oeg bantam pullet decided to hide and sit her 4~11 eggs she ever laid which we're definitely not fertile so I swapped them for some buff Brahma bantams and she hatched them =) but I might have just got lucky with her =)

How broody are Old English Game birds? I'd like to add a consistent broody hen or two to my flock. Open to different breeds. Would like bantam.

In my experience Silkies would rather sit on eggs than eat. They will sit on anything & were very consistent plus the little fuzzy butts are sooooooooo darn cute. I raised one that was a stray hatch in a box by itself in my front room & when it got old enough to jump out of the box it would come & roost on my shoulder as I sat & read a book. That's where chicken diapers come in handy.....LOL

I'm wondering if Silkies are broody only because the breed is naturally that way or if people got them for this so they encouraged this trait by breeding only broody hens which caused the breed to become even more broody? If this is the case, then you could breed broodyness into most any breed. Has anyone done this?

I am not sure on that but mine came to me that way & I left them all together in the breeding pen & they sat there eggs & hatched their chicks in there all together. Then I would whisk them off to the brooders.

you could breed it into any breed - gallus gallus - the original chickens are broody for survival. humans spend the next 6000 years breeding it out of most breeds of gallus domesticus.

If you have a spare 3 or 4 hundred years you could get a white leghorn to go broody
