CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread

We make everyone run around the flagpole 3 times backwards while signing God bless America at the top of their lungs. Then your in.

if you cant sign, its ok to sing - as long as you do it blindfolded, with a chicken in each arm

Hayward. Right now I only have 4 and I'm still a newbie. Buff Orpington, Welsummer, red-laced-blue wyandotte and an easter egger, they hatched in May and are now all laying.
I would love some cream legbars. My red-laced-blue in a little flighty but the others are pretty friendly...I guess I want more friendly...I am amazingly very attached to my ladies.

I had an uncle that lived in Hayward & cousins that owned property above the Hayward plunge. They are all gone now but we lived in Oakland & visited in Hayward often.

I have Buff Orpingtons, I have had Blue Laced Wyandottes & EEs. My chickens are penned in individual breeding pens but I have a bunch of free loading free rangers & my favorite is a resident EE duckwing patterened rooster. His name is Ari. I hatched him out of a huge blue blue egg years ago thinking he was an Ameraucana. He is beautiful & docile. He will live him life out here happily picking around. Once I got addicted to learning about and raising all things chicken he has not been used so he is a happy free ranger.

I do sell hatching eggs & that will be my focus this season . I personally hate shipped eggs. For so long I kept ordering shipped eggs from near & far & at great expense some of the time. I had horrible luck. I love selling to locals or trading with others chicken lovin' friends. My Buff Orps are from a breeder here in California Jimm & Bonnie Sallee. I think I have a picture of them on my profile page. The are big birds but not English.
