CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread

Thanks for the info Ron & I will check out the La Fleche too. I do like big birds. I hope to remember to take my SOP to Fresno tomorrow & look through it there. I am trying to pack the car for tomorrow's ride. I think if I leave around 6 a.m. I will get there about 8. Julie & Teresa will probably already be there.
My BCM started laying today & one was a decent colored egg & they ate it....naughty girls........ I have been supplementing their feed with fodder feeders. I wonder whats up with that???? . We'll see what happens now. I took their nest box out & put one of the new covered roll out ones in there with my husbands help

Kim,
My breeder BCMs are not laying yet at all. Aaron is putting in a Fleming roll out nest box in there today. I have the converted 5 gallon bucket box in there now & the used it last year & before but sometimes the finish on the egg gets scratched before I get to them so I am trying this. I bought 3 but the milk crates I attached them to aren't big enough for my Orpingtons so I have to choose a more normal sized bird to use them. I bought some Brown leghorns at the Stockton show just to have a white egg in the egg basket for contrast & I have started getting them.
I was browsing through the 2010 SOP the other day & think I found a new to me breed I have to have. Up until now no one has been able to name a LFDP white egg layer but I was reading about the Crevevours (sp). The SOP list them as Large Fowl Dual Purpose & they lay a WHITE egg............yeah....NOW to find them.....LOL
Ray & I are off to Black Oaks just for overnight for Valentines Day but hope to see a lot of you at the Fresno Show this Saturday.
darn missed another show I guess

Hi, I finally joined and am looking forward to the meet up in Valley Center....We raise d'Uccles- mille, white and porcelain. Have two golden necked hens that could use a roo and a black/brown roo that could use hens. Right now they are together and I am really curious about what the babies would look like. Maybe I'll hatch a couple for the Easter hatch-a-long !
We also raise Polish crested standard size, and Sebrights. Those chickens all belong to my kids...They are looking for more porcelain hens.....
I raise silkies. Anybody need an extra rooster? Thought I'd ask!
Looking forward to participating instead of just lurking, although time inside at the computer is limited.
