you could breed it into any breed - gallus gallus - the original chickens are broody for survival. humans spend the next 6000 years breeding it out of most breeds of gallus

If you have a spare 3 or 4 hundred years you could get a white leghorn to go broody

or just breed empordanesa

mine can be. I try not let them stay that way though. last year I hatched a few clutches

Where in the Bay Area? There are several others in that area. I used to be in that area myself but came back home to the Central Valley many years ago.

Hayward. Right now I only have 4 and I'm still a newbie. Buff Orpington, Welsummer, red-laced-blue wyandotte and an easter egger, they hatched in May and are now all laying.
I would love some cream legbars. My red-laced-blue in a little flighty but the others are pretty friendly...I guess I want more friendly...I am amazingly very attached to my ladies.
