CALIFORNIA The Whole State thread

I got my son 25 Coturnix quail from a game bird farm in Angels camp awhile back & we are eagerly awaiting the eggs to make pickled eggs.

I have a few different recipes I use to pickle. The sweet ones with beet juice are usually everyone's favorite.

I do beet juice ones too but use the pickled juice from pickled beets & add lots of red wine vinegar & fresh grated garlic, a few red pepper flakes & this & that always a little different than the time before......LOL In fact I have a 1/2 gallon jug of them in the frig right now. I love how the color of the beet juice lets you see how far it has gone into the egg. We usually start eating them before the color gets all the way through............LOL My chicken eggs take soooooooooooooooo long compared to the tiny quail eggs at 3 or 4 days.

Hi there! I live in Porterville, moved here not too long ago from Visalia. Quail, wow, how fun! Do you ever sell their eggs? If so, are you open to barter?

Wolftracks, your family is prolific! Congratulations!

Prolific isn't even the word for it. I was told once that that word was only used if your Catholic... If you aren't, your just perverted. Guess we're perverted! LOL

Karen he does look like her. She swore up and down he looked like his dad, but then she started seeing how much he looks like his sisters and no way could they look like him. LOL

Still exhausted. I feel like I'm in a fog and just plain drained. Good thing I didn't pay any bills this month, because I've driven to the Bay so many times, every dime has gone into my gas tank. I have to figure out what I wanna be when I grow up, cause it's becoming increasingly difficult to find work. Add all my stress points and phobias, I'm not having much luck. Wish there was something I could do from him. As it is, if these birds don't start paying their own way, they're gonna start looking like Roadrunners.

Hey ronott1 - it's been awhile since I've "seen" you, we've been on different sites and I'm not on-line as much.
How are your UofA blues? What crosses are you doing? Any new projects in the works?
Hi!

I am working with the UofA Blues. The original thread was closed and a new one is going now. They are calling them Arkansas Blues over there now

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/874920/arkansas-blue-egg-layers/10#post_13292548

I have a pen for Partridge Penedesencas now and one being set up for Pita Pintas. I will also be hatching Bresse soon as well as the SG Dorkings and New Heritage Dels that I hatch for capayvalleychick.

Lots going on!
