Oh wow, i'd better introduce myself before you leave! I live down near fresno, but since there isn't a central central valley thread i have been lurking on the northern central valley/foothills thread which has linked to this one! Chickens aren't allowed where i'm at, so i've got my sisters addicted to chickens now. I have been getting hatching eggs from a swap page on here and have 10 6 week old chicks, 19 3 week old easter eggers (was 21 till my pug decided she wanted to play), 7 1 week old ameraucana- 4 wheaten/blue 3 bbs and a few more in the incubator. my 6 week olds are off to my sisters' tomorrow, i'll kind of miss my barred rock and buff orps, but the other 6 can go jump in a deep fryer, they're not nice at all...come to think of it all but 2 of my EE are the same way...maybe i'll breed for personalty.

anywho, have fun at chickenstock tomorrow, see i've been lurking a while.

Hi Tommy! Welcome to the California thread!

That stinks that you can't have chickens where you're at but it sounds like you are working around that just fine.

I just try to keep them out of sight from the real #$%#$% of a neighbor we have one side. I only keep the chicks here, so they're not as much of a nuisance as full grown. Add the fact the the neighbor on the other side is really nice and i think i can get away with chicks for a while, I might even try to keep my favorite EE, unless he turns out to BE a he. His name is puffers, his mom was an ameraucana and looks like his dad was a showgirl, he has a vault, 5 toes and feathered legs and is so sweet that he comes to my hand when i call him. Funny thing is he won't take treats from my hand and the bigger EEs bully him away from treats i drop in the brooder.

I spent 2 weeks on Sanger. hmmm Maybe more, could have been a month. My bestest friend moved there from Oakland and I went and spent some time with her. After that it was occassional letters and saw her once when we were about 20 and one more letter. I've looked all over the interney for her for years. Found my dad, but not Mary.

I added you to the first post. Welcome to the thread!

Oh and tell the neighbors those aren't chickens. They are exotic parakeets.

Sunny I'm pming you.

Folks the weather is dry here in Oakland, it is a bit chilly this morning so make sure you dress warm, I'll see you all soon!

Sanger!!?? Really? That is close. Get gas there all the time. Very interesting little town. Sure do hope they get Acadamy fixed quickly...

Wolftracks, hope your next couple of months are kind to you.

Just got home with my new babies. The boys didn't mind too much when I held them, but this little girl is not having the lap chicken business. LOL There a little open air coop the neighbors gave me, geez, when Bill was alive! I've had a little bantam hen in there and have no idea what she is. I'm going to turn it into a double coop. One side for the Mottled Japs and one side for this little AM huy and my blue pullet that's out in the growout pen. This coop was made from a tall cabinat with doors on one end. The doors ar going and I'm taking off the chicken wire that they used at one end. Then I can slit it up for the two pairs. Later when I get a roo for my black tail buff Jap, I'll make something for the AMs and have a double Jap coop. Then again. If I get anything done around here so I can focus on coops more, there's a coop I want to build just for the Japs. We'll see.

So I won a prize in the raffle, no eggs darn it, but I sat it down and can't find it. It's 20 or 25 ???$$$ for chicken supplies online, but I'll have to find everything to be able to say from where.

Just hoping something happens where I don't lose my internet, but it's supposed to be going off tomorrow. Hope I can call and get a nicer person to talk to and see if I can work something out, but I've been doing that for the past 4 months, so if I can't get it done, I figure sometime in February I'll have paid it off along with the reconnect fee. If it isn't one thing it's another.

Oh and I was late for the Chickenstock, cause I finally fell asleep and woke up when I should have been leaving. Locked my key in my trunk and took me a while to figure out how to open it from inside. Hasn't worked in months. Seems something in my glove compartment must have pushed the valet button, so finally got the key out and now I can even ioen the truck without the key again. LOL This is what happens when you don't leave home much and rush inside when you ge back. I have no idea how to do even half the things that my cars options cover. hehe

OK you guys aren't going to be rid of me! I got a loan. So thankful right now. This gets me caught up with almost everything, so it will be a lot off my mind and I don't have to be offline.

Now I can work on something to get us all together in a few months!

Ok I gotta see a pic of this half ameraucana and half showgirl bird of yours!
