Well, not really, but he was a she i don't think she'd be pure white. EE hens always have a pattern to them, i'm pretty sure i can pick out the roos from the hens just by the colors. Then again....her comb hasn't grown like the other ones I have pegged as hens.
Took Makayla to school and thought there was a fire drill, but the alarm was weird. One teacher took her class to the middle of the school ground and the people in the cafeteria where we take the kindergartners started telling us to come inside, it was a lockdown. They were doing a raid around the corner, the house faces the playground where the teacher took the one class.
I always forget my phone, but had it with me, so people used it to call family and I sent a text to my 4 daughters asking them to find out what was going on. My oldest daughter got info to us before anyone else knew what was going on. My 3rd daughter was watching it on the news. I think daughter #2 must be in the air. Makayla's mom couldn't find info, but was texting me.
Then when it was lifted I walked towards the door and told them they were lifting and everyone asked how I knew that. The staff looked at me like I was nuts but I told them I had my girls checking things for us and it was just announced it was lifted. Then the staff people inside got their calls and said I was right. I'm not to thrilled with the way these people are trained, or should I say NOT trained for this.
The kids should have been on the floor. I told the mom's and a dad and another grandmother, that if something happened to get those kids into the kitchen where there was lots of metal and places to climb into or hide.
I get from staff, "NO, they will tell us what to do." They had no idea what was even happening and sitting there.
The rest of the people there said "No, we're following her."
There's also a storage room. None of the kids knew what was happening and nothing was said to them. At least they didn't panic and kept eatting, but as soon as the lift happened they should have been coached.
I told Makayla if she EVER heard that alarm like that again, to go straight inside.
Then a staff member says "yeah , that's a good idea, you need to go in as soon as you hear that sound."
Then I said "And you can go inside ANY door, don't try to run to your classroom."
Staff "OH, that's right, just go inside."
So I'm home and Makayla is safe. I hope. I almost brought her home.
I was so peeved. I learned about things like that very early, plus I did some things in my teens that had training for stuff like that. Then top that with have a Spec Ops husband. I can't believe how lax everything is there. Not safe and I'm also going to be going back. If Bill was alive he'd be there training the staff, right now. If Bill was here, he would have been the one taking her to school. That was his thing.
There wasn't a huge thing going on out there, just a raid and no gun fire, but the staff in that room didn't know that. Top that with the teacher that didn't know the drill and took a class full of kids out right across from the house they were raiding and OMG!, I'm happy things went like they did, but what about the next time??
I had parents coming to me for help and worried about their kids and the staff just sat there in a chair! OK one stood near a door, but they stood there!
I'm feeling my old militant self coming out big time right now.

Yes, Linda is right, EEs can be any color because they are mixed. A better way to tell gender on EEs is the comb. Boys will have a distinctive 3 rows to their combs and it is prominent right away. Girls combs look like a single small row when they are chicks. I would guess that your pretty EE there is a girl because of the feather growth but a look at the comb would be a better gauge. Of course I often have a tendency to see "pullet" when the reality is "roo".

yeah, I'm a half empty guy myself, so i tend to say roo. I asked the lady I got the eggs from and she does have 2 white ameraucana so maybe she'll end up being a pure white pullet. None of the feathers she has so far are colored.
