Been a long day already and I have to pick Kayla up soon. There were some really cute turkeys for the contest. Even an angel turkey. So cute. Makayla guarded hers and wouldn't get into line to protect it, but I finally got her to hand it over. All the kids asked her to see it and she was smiling from ear to ear, so I think she's proud of herself. I made suggestions, but she made the finally decission on what she wanted us to do. Of course my job was spreading glue and getting tiny quail feathers around the final round of tail feathers. I had so much glue, feathers, peas amd mac stuck to my hands she cracked up. Dakotah came out to see what was so funny. Oh and you gotta add anything else that was on the carpet that came up will I was helping to pick things up. I still had glue under my nails after a shower. How bad is that? I'm going to see if I can get into the cafeteria to take pics of all the turkeys. I'll see what I can do and post them. I love kids and crafts.
Loved Kayla's turkey Kim................ Cari, my daughter, is an arts & crafts 4H leader for Chatom 4H & they are doing turkies too but not nearly so decorative. I did arts & crafts with the 4H kids for many years & loved it. That was many years ago when tole painting was popular so I cut alot of wood for alot of little kids.
BTW does anyone else have hundreds, maybe thousands, of crows hanging around. It is totally unbelievable that there can be that many crows.
I have an almond orchard next door that they roost in.
I spent alot of time on the phone this morning to different agencies throughout California after my husband came in yesterday & told me there were alot of dead crows out in the pasture under the Mulberry tree. I ended up writing to the Fish & Game department about it wondering if I should be concerned. I was given one telephone number after another trying to find who to report it to.
Last evening my son came in & told me a gianr flocks (hundreds) of crows had swarmed through the chicken area. He went out in the pasture & shot off a shotgun shell into the grown to make a loud noise & they all fled. They can't gen in my pens they are all covered but still it is worrisome. Anyone else have experiences with crows??????

Tons of crows, but I haven't seen any dead. That's not good. I've heard that can be Avian Flu to West Nile. I sure hope not or they'll be all over chicken owners. Just what we need, but reporting it is important. I hope it's something else. Maybe a bb gun.
The only college I graduated from was CCAC in Oakland when I was 17. I won a special scholarship in the 6th grade, so I got to go to art school with the big people. LOL It's a beautiful campus and I loved it. I'm not very artistic these days though, but man my grandkids have been doing awesome.
I didn't get pics of the turkeys. I guess they're under lock and key till the contest. I did get a pic though. Makayla's best friend from school has a litter of Pitt puppies and her mom brought one to show me. I keep saying no, but look at this face!!! She's 6 weeks and light blue brindle. There's a solid blue and I really can't afford another dog, but man am I thinking about it. She also has solid black and various colors of brindle.
I'm trying to get my phone to recieve the pics she's sending me. Not coming through. I took the one here, but I want to see them all. Just keep telling myself no, but man since he just got his hours cut back her husband it letting them go so cheap, just to cut back on feeding them. This pup above is like a brick. Oh the mom's pic came through. LOL She looks like a Holstien. LOL
Kim, Karen or anyone else,
Do you know where I can get a 4-H hat and scarf? Both girls need them and I went to JS West and they are $15 each ($60 total!). I found ONE place online that sells them but after you pay shipping it was the same price. That's just so much money for 2 hats and 2 scarfs! Do you guys happen to know of anywhere that sells them?
