I’ve been incubating call duck eggs, only one left that’s viable. This is day 31 so I thought it was over, decided to candle before getting rid and I can still see movement in there so I’ve put the egg back in the incubator. Eggs been in lockdown about a week now, should I be doing anything else to help? No movement visible until I candled it, no noise, no pip? Thank you!

My call ducks hatched in 26 days. If possible post a picture of the egg while it's being candled.

Yes. If it is still alive it probably needs help providing you're positive this is day 31. Post the picture as soon as you can.

Oh it’s not moving anymore! I swear it was earlier today. Here’s some pictures I’ve just taken

I'm sorry, I can not explain what you saw move; likely deteriorating material. If the egg were alive or had just died the egg would be nearly dark except for the air space. The veining has also broke down and there is no sign of internal pipping. Again, sorry. I know how disappointed you must be.

Thank you, I did think it was odd it was still moving at this very late stage, I guess we see what we want to sometimes! There’s no way to know what went wrong without me checking inside is there? I know I’m in danger of sounding silly now but I am so sure I seen it moving around the last time I candled it before putting it in lockdown. Would be a week ago now. But now I’m doubting that, maybe I just wanted to see that too. Thank you again

Opening the egg will not tell you what went wrong and the smell is liable to be strong and horrid. If you have not broken the egg open yet I urge you to carefully dispose of it. When eggs decay gasses build up fast and a jolt is likely to cause the egg to crack open or even explode. When an egg explodes it makes a huge, gross, smelly mess.

Hi, my call duck egg has been in the incubator for 26 days now and when I candled it today I saw no movement but when I candled it a couple days ago there was lots of movement. Is it normal for there to be no movement on day 26? thank you
