My female call duck just laid an egg. What is the best thing to do? I have the hen and drake together, and I don't have an incubator. I would like for it to hatch. Also, for future eggs, how do I go about keeping it for eating since they are fertilized? I'm used to chicken eggs where we just gather them and eat. Thanks in advance! :)

Unless the female duck is broody or you have a broody hen you will have to incubate it yourself in an incubator if you want to hatch it. If you are going to eat your fertilized duck eggs I just put them in the frig asap so no developement begins I also write the date it was gathered right on the egg so I know whick eggs to eat first. If I am going to hatch my duck eggs I just put them in an egg carton on the counter and wait until I have enough to put in incubator.
